Pheidole obtusospinosa

Pheidole obtusospinosa nest at the base of a mesquite tree, with my fingers on the left side of the picture for scale. The yellow arrows mark nest entrances. Their nests seem to be quite diffuse, with messy mounds like this around the base of vegetation, connected by foraging trails.
